Moroccan Berber silver necklace, 59 cm long and 113 g, dating to the mid‑20th century, vintage with visible wear, titled Ethnische Silberkette.
Description from the seller
Ethnic Berber Silver Chain with cone-shaped amulets & hollow spheres – Morocco / North Africa, mid-20th century (112 g)
The piece stands out with its central hollow silver ball, flanked by two contoured spacer beads and two prominent, cone-shaped amulets. The cones are hand-decorated with traditional geometric prickings/zigzag patterns, considered protective symbols in Berber culture.
Total weight: 112 g
Material: Silver (acid test positive, fineness unmarked/lower than 925 sterling silver – typical for authentic tribal jewelry)
Special features: Pure handwork, original faithful clasp (hook). The zigzag patterns serve as traditional protective symbols against the “evil eye.” The freely rotating hollow spheres symbolize movement and the cycle of life; according to regional folklore, the constant movement when worn wards off negative energies and testifies to high goldsmithing skill.
Condition: Good, age-appropriate preservation with fine patina and signs of wear.
A wonderful addition for collectors of ethnographic jewelry, silver antiques, or North African folk art.
