Christoph Jakob - mirror_sq_02

In the series of works 'mirrors', the basalt block is split in two and then reconceived as a single, unified form. The cut surfaces are precisely polished and adorned with complementary positive and negative structures. Only when joined together does the stone's original form reemerge. The works address reflection, complementation, and the inseparable relationship between the two halves. From separation comes unity – from the intervention, a new spatial image.
