Medsan’s Stained Glass Spider-Man, a 40 x 40 cm Giclée mounted on wood, is a unique 1/1, hand-signed edition from France in a Pop Art/Gothic stained-glass style depicting Spider-Man in a modern sacred iconography.
Description from the seller
THERE IS ONLY ONE LIKE IT IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1
With this square-format work, Medsan brings Spider-Man, the hero created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko for Marvel in 1962, into the vocabulary of Gothic stained glass. The web-slinger is captured mid-descent along his thread, legs folded, fist clenched, in a composition whose frontal stance echoes medieval cathedral glass. Behind him, Manhattan unfolds in colored glass: the Chrysler Building and its fan-shaped crown, the Empire State Building, the Art Deco façades of a New York that has become a sacred landscape. The cartouche メドサン, the artist’s signature in katakana, is set at the bottom of the composition like the name of a donor at the base of an old stained-glass window.
The treatment faithfully follows the logic of leaded stained glass: each color field is outlined by a thick black lattice that acts as the lead came, and the spider-web pattern of the costume blends with this setting. The deep reds and cobalt blues of the costume, translucent and saturated, contrast with the amber, ivory, and pale green of the background, while the bubbles and irregularities of blown glass remain visible in the material. The halo of light at the top of the image simulates daylight passing through the window, lighting the scene by transparency rather than from the front. The irregular geometric panel border, with rosette and arcature motifs, frames the subject like an authentic stained-glass border.
The mashup conveys something simple and powerful: our modern heroes have replaced the saints. By treating Spider-Man with a medium reserved for eight centuries to Christian iconography, Medsan questions how pop culture has become our shared mythology, with figures of sacrifice and redemption. The character’s pose, suspended between sky and city, evokes both ascent and fall, and the light that passes through him makes him a figure of contemporary devotion.
A luminous and graphic piece, ideal for adding a touch that is both sacred and pop to the interior of a collector devoted to contemporary icons.

About the Studio:
Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists united around a living, plural contemporary creation. Installed as a true production space for art, the studio operates both as collaborative creation and through individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a figurative contemporary painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. Beside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive pursuit, mixing abstract art, brut art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is thought out, realized, and followed within the studio, with a shared artistic stdandard and a unique identity for each artist.
