With this vertically formatted artwork, Medsan confronts Dialga, the Steel and Time Legendary Pokémon from the Sinnoh region, with Salvador Dalí's most famous landscape: The Persistence of Memory, painted in 1931. The time dragon stands at the center of a desert plain bordered by cliffs, the same ones Dalí drew from the coast of Cadaqués. Around him, six soft watches melt on the rock, on his paws, and on the blades of his back. The connection is logical: the master of time finally rules over clocks that measure nothing.

The treatment is a pictorial art concept with black-edged contours, straddling vintage poster and surreal painting: Dialga's steel volumes are modeled by wide fields of pearl gray and slate blue, highlighted by luminous edges on the dorsal blades and a amber cabochon on the chest. The background, brushed in ochre, sand, and Prussian blue, picks up the twilight light of Dalíesque horizons. The copper dials flow in drops that extend the gesture to the bottom of the composition, where a wax seal bearing a monogram signs the work like an atelier stamp.

The mashup states something simple and vertiginous: entrusting Dalí's soft watches to the creature that, in the Pokémon universe, governs the flow of time. Where the Catalan painter showed time grown soft, subjective, devoured by dream, Medsan places a guardian who watches it melt without intervening. Dialga's downward gaze sets an unexpected melancholy on a legendary creature usually depicted in full power.

A piece that is both graphic and dreamlike, ideal for bringing a pop surreal touch to a collector’s interior who values the connections between art history and video game culture. Its vertical format can be hung alone, above a desk, or in dialogue with other works in the series.
