Description from the seller
The Weight of Silence
Technique: Acrylic on canvas
Style: Contemporary abstraction
This work explores the relationship between mass, space, and silence through a composition dominated by a large central black form. This structure, almost architectural, traverses the canvas horizontally before extending downward, creating a powerful visual anchor.
Around this dark shape, the light background is treated with overlays, traces, lines, and variations in material in shades of white, gray, beige, with discreet touches of blue and ochre. The visible marks on the surface testify to the painterly gesture and give the work a tactile and expressive dimension.
The contrast between the black mass and the brightness of the background creates a tension between presence and absence, weight and lightness, closure and openness. The title The Weight of Silence refers to this impression of a silent presence that structures the entire composition.
This painting is part of a contemporary abstraction approach where material, gesture, and contrasts of forms are used to create a space open to the viewer's interpretation.
Original work, signed by the artist.
The painting will be shipped rolled in a tube, without the frame.
About the artist: Born in 1966, Jane Grièco is a Brazilian artist living in Brittany.
Since her beginnings under the strong, insistent sun of the tropics, Jane pursued beauty in the thousands of color nuances that light makes sparkle.
Jane Grieco has notably exhibited her design creations at the Art & Deco fair in La Villette, Palais Lumière in Évian-les-Bains, Maison & Objet, and in Brazil, Switzerland, Spain.
