“Presence”

In this work, my brushstroke becomes the language of the soul. Notice how the colors, in their vibrant intensity, intertwine to tell a story of duality and balance. The oil on canvas technique, with its bold and textured brushstrokes, captures the very essence of human emotion.
I have used a bold and saturated color palette to evoke a sense of energy and vitality. The blazing reds and intense oranges symbolize passion and the vigor of life, while deep greens and bright whites represent calm and clarity. This color combination creates a visually striking contrast, reflecting the complexity of our own existence. The body’s sensitivity is highlighted through meticulous details such as the curve of the back, the texture of the skin, or the play of light and shadow conveying a serene elegance.
Vida AMReyes. (Granma, Cuba 1991) discovered from a very young age that drawing was not just a pastime but a way to translate the world. In 2010, she graduated with honors from the prestigious Carlos Enrique Gómez Academy of Fine Arts. There she consolidated an exceptional technical mastery in oil painting, acrylics, and drawing from life, foundations that would later shape her conceptual signature.
Her early career years unfolded amid the Cuban cultural fervor, actively participating in young art salons and group exhibitions. Her work quickly began to stand out: in salons and exhibitions she earned numerous awards and accolades.
AMReyes’s work is distinguished by a visceral, imposing realism that grabs the eye at first glance. However, her approach does not stop at mere photographic mimetic accuracy. On anatomies worked with rigor or faces charged with deep psychographic expressiveness, the artist overlays and integrates icons, allegories, and conceptual elements: wings that seem invisible to the bearer, suspended threads, blocks of dense color, or garments laden with symbolism. For her, the human body and the everyday figure are the perfect canvas to reflect on identity.
This fusion of technical mastery and symbolic narrative opened the door to international visibility. Over the last decade, her pieces have been acquired by private collectors and galleries in:
