Corina Dinu - Seeds of Light - XL

I don't paint many things I've actually seen — most of my work comes from somewhere else entirely. But this one is a field I know. I used to walk through it as a child, and I still don't know if the memory is more real or more invented by now — that's usually how it goes with the places that matter most.
I didn't want to paint the flowers themselves. I wanted the moment just before you can name what you're looking at — when color and shape blur together and your eye hasn't decided yet what it's seeing. So I built the whole canvas in layers, thick enough that the paint holds its own shadow, and let circles fall down through it like something scattered by hand rather than grown.
Some of them I traced in gold leaf, because certain memories deserve to catch the light a little more than others.
Seeds of Light was painted in 2026, image size 172 x 56 cm on a full canvas of 180 x 63 cm, acrylic with heavy hand-built impasto texture and imitation gold leaf accents. It's signed on the verso, comes directly from my studio, and is a unique piece — there's no edition. It's in excellent condition, with a Certificate of Authenticity included, and it will be shipped unframed, rolled in a rigid protective tube, fully insured and tracked.
This is one of the few pieces I've made that feels like going home. Narrow and tall, it wants a quiet spot — a hallway, a stairwell, somewhere you pass by rather than sit across from — so it can do what memory does: catch you slightly off guard, every single time.
