Description from the seller

Original work by Wags. This contemporary figurative painting depicts a moment of freedom bathed in Mediterranean light. Between realism and timeless elegance, the artist plays with the reflections of the sea, the warmth of the wood, and the softness of the tones to create an atmosphere that is at once sensual and calming. The red hat, a true focal point of the composition, naturally guides the eye and adds a graphic touch that reinforces the balance of the whole. A work designed to invite the viewer on a journey, in contemplation and escape.

This work is part of The Red Hat Collection, a series of paintings in which a mysterious red-hat-clad silhouette traverses the world’s most iconic places, leaving viewers to imagine its story.

Biography :

Wags, born in Paris in 1970, embodies the path of a polymorphous artist whose creativity has unfolded from electronic music to contemporary graphic art. Coming from a family where art was already present thanks to his father, a draftsman, Wags discovers at a very young age his first passion, musical creation. This passion guides him in his youth, and his early talents lead him to make a bold decision: to invest the money intended to fund his higher studies in creating his first album.

Distributed by EMI, the album did not meet the expected success, but it marked the beginning of a richly experimental artistic career.

Parallel to his musical career, Wags engages in the world of advertising as a designer/writer for the emblematic Playboy magazine. For many years, he puts his creativity at the service of the publication by creating and producing the magazine’s advertising campaigns.

The turning point in his career comes in 2005 when he becomes a cameraman, thus exploring a new facet of the visual world. In 2007, he discovers a passion for photography, adding another artistic string to his bow. In 2010, he successfully founded his own photo agency, highlighting his entrepreneurial spirit.

In 2017, Wags makes a radical choice to sell his agency to fully embrace graphic art, influenced by his son, who has become a major figure in world street art. A pioneer of computer-assisted artistic creation, Wags stands out with more than 3000 works sold in galleries and online to date.

Wanting to explore new artistic universes, Wags is none other than Kobalt who signs under this pseudonym so as not to interfere with his usual work.

This contemporary figurative painting draws inspiration from classical realism and a modern glamorous aesthetic. Collectors who appreciate the light of Joaquín Sorolla, the mastery of Anders Zorn, the elegance of John Singer Sargent, as well as the worlds of Richard S. Johnson, Pino Daeni, Jack Vettriano, Fabian Perez, and Jeremy Lipking will find in this work a familiar atmosphere and treatment of light.
