Description from the seller
PATIO CON NARANJO
100 × 70 cm
Acrylic on canvas · 2026
Patio with Orange Tree represents an exterior domestic space built through a succession of stairs, walls, plants, and small architectural elements. In the center, a dark door serves as the arrival point of the composition, surrounded by pots and framed by a yellow facade. On either side, vegetation progressively invades the architecture: an orange tree laden with fruit occupies the left edge, while a large mass of pink flowers descends on the right and accompanies the ascending path of the staircase.
The composition is organized around a pronounced frontal depth, guided by the path and the steps that cross the patio. The yellows and oranges of the walls and the ceramics contrast with intense greens, pinks, and small blue surfaces, creating a chromatic rhythm that runs through the entire image. The shadows projected onto the facade introduce new geometric shapes and reinforce the sense of intense light, while the abundant vegetation softens the architectural structure and transforms the patio into an intimate and protected space.
PROJECTION AND VALUE OF THE WORK
Patio with Orange Tree is part of Mar Legón's research on patios, gardens, and domestic architectures—spaces where nature integrates with built elements to generate scenes that seem to lie between a place observed and one remembered. The absence of human figures reinforces this condition: the space seems prepared to be walked through, yet remains paused in a moment of stillness.
Entirely handmade in 2026, this unique piece gathers some of the artist’s characteristic elements: an intense color palette, simplified perspectives, abundant vegetation, and spatial organization built through color planes. The work turns a common courtyard into a composition with strong visual identity, where architecture and nature maintain a constant balance between order, growth, and light.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Mar Legón develops a painting practice focused on reinterpretations of landscapes, interiors, still lifes, and figurative scenes through a visual language based on color, formal synthesis, and atmosphere construction.
Her work transforms spaces and recognizable motifs into images of strong visual intensity, where reality is simplified and rearranged to give rise to scenes that oscillate between memory, imagination, and contemplation.
