Le Yack - A River Runs Through It - Hand signed

Calm river lined with a bank of dark trees, under a sky of candid blue; in the distance, a bridge and the pale silhouette of a building close the perspective. Immersed up to the thighs, a young brunette woman in a midnight blue one-piece swims and leans forward to wash her face with both hands; the water falls in a thread of sparkling droplets, wet hair slicked back. The surface, smooth as a mirror, doubles the silhouette with a long reflection that reaches the lower edge of the painting. Semantically, the gesture — washing the face — is an elementary ritual, an erasure: she hides and purifies herself in the same movement, stealing her face from the spectator. The contrast between the deep shadow of the left bank and the brightness of the reflected sky creates a two-register composition, and the golden skin remains the sole warm focal point in a palette of dark greens and blues. Precise impastos on the water, broad strokes on the foliage, full-summer light.

Le Yack, emerging French pop and street art artist. Alexandre Pelletier, known as Le Yack, was born in 1972 in Tours. During his studies, he joined the École Supérieure d'Art et de Design (ESAD) of Orléans. He is art director in publishing and on the web. Instagram @leyack45.
