Pair of Collection Jewel Boxes - Damascus Inlay - Fine Marquetry with Mother-of-Pearl and Bone - Syria, c. 1960
Detailed Description
Exquisite lot consisting of two handcrafted boxes of high quality, made using the ancient Damascus inlay technique. These pieces, dating before 1970, stand out for the meticulous geometric mosaic, using natural organic materials of great aesthetic value.
1. Large Hexagonal Jewelry Box
Construction: Solid wood frame fully clad with a complex mosaic of micro-inlays.
Materials: Use of natural nacre (mother-of-pearl) with high iridescence, carved bone, and dyed noble woods.
Design: Central lid with a geometric star motif, a classic symbol of Middle Eastern craftsmanship.
Interior: Lined in original red velvet, ideal for protecting jewelry or watches.
Dimensions: 20 × 18 × 7 cm.
2. Rectangular Desktop Casket
Style: A piece to match the main design, ideal for small jewelry pieces or decorative use.
Materials: Shows the same level of detail in inlays of nacre and bone.
