Description from the seller
Fascinating oil painting on an antique canvas dating from the mid-20th century (the 1960s) that depicts a suggestive natural landscape. The scene captures the warm autumn atmosphere, with a majestic deer resting on the shore of a still watercourse, surrounded by lush vegetation in shades of gold, orange and ochre. The work stands out for a painting technique with a clearly impressionist imprint, characterized by bold, rapid, and textural brushstrokes that give dynamism to the foliage and create delicate moonlit reflections on the surface of the water. The artist's signature is placed at the bottom left in a vivid red color and is clearly legible as "Maffei", the famous atelier signature associated with this appreciated strand of landscape paintings of the late twentieth century. The painting includes its splendid original frame from the period in worked wood, characterized by a textured finish in cream and beige tones, which fits perfectly with the vintage style of the era. The back reveals a handmade solid wood frame with a turned canvas secured by hand with traditional metal nails, a technical detail fundamental that attests to its authenticity and age (before the use of modern industrial staples). Frame included. We do not ship to Germany due to packaging regulations.
