Description from the seller
Up for auction is an exceptionally well-preserved and elegant men's dress watch from the renowned German manufacturer Laco (Lacher & Co.) based in Pforzheim, produced in the mid-1950s. This piece is a prime example of post-war German watchmaking excellence and superior build quality.Key Highlights for Collectors:Premium Gold Filled Case: The entire case, including the unique guilloché caseback, is coated with a thick layer of real gold using the prestigious Walzgolddouble (20 microns) rolled gold method. This mechanical bonding technique was reserved only for high-end watch models and ensures remarkable durability. The case also features highly attractive, dynamically shaped lugs.Stunning Dial with Patina: The original dial features luxurious applied arrowhead-shaped hour markers. Over the decades, it has developed a captivating, uniform honey-gold patina that gives the watch an authentic and honest vintage character.In-house Movement with Durabloc: The watch is powered by a robust, in-house mechanical manual-winding movement from Durowe (Laco's sister manufacturing facility). The movement is equipped with the advanced German Durabloc shock-protection system and features enhanced magnetic protection (Antimagnetic). Excellent vintage condition with minimal signs of wear. The gold layers are completely intact, with no brassing visible on the edges.Crystal: Clean and in great condition, free of visible scratches.Movement Condition: Fully operational and in working order. The movement runs smoothly, keeps stable time (divergence of only a few seconds per 24 hours), and does not stop.Case Dimensions: 34 mm (excluding the crown) x 40 mm (lug-to-lug).Strap: Fitted with a brand-new, unworn high-quality 18 mm leather Bund-style strap, which perfectly complements the brand's historic aesthetic.
Important notice:
The watch is described faithfully and exactly as it was observed during the auction display, and no important information is concealed. However, please note that this is a very old watch with no service history, so I do not provide a guarantee for the accuracy of the time or functionality. The watch is listed in the antiques section and serves as an investment item to preserve the value of money and to appreciate the investment in the future over time; it is intended for collector's purposes. Before starting to wear it, I always recommend checking it with a watchmaker and performing regular service, which is recommended every 3 years for all mechanical watches worldwide.
