About the work:

In this atmospheric work, an old water tower stands out against a vast expanse of sky lit by a storm. Its ochre and luminous silhouette contrasts with the deep blues, the grays, and the troubled whites of the clouds, while a verdant landscape stretches in the foreground.
The composition rests on a striking opposition between the verticality of the water tower and the immense, moving sky. The light, diffuse and almost theatrical, seems to herald a turning point: after the threat of the storm, the horizon reveals a break in the clouds.
The painting approach is free and sensitive, prioritizing material, nuances, and lighting effects. The water tower thus becomes much more than an architectural element: a figure of permanence, solitude, and vigilance facing the forces of the landscape.

About the artist:

Historian by training, Emmanuelle Pellet studied at the École du Louvre and then at the Sorbonne, before passing the Agrégation in visual arts (3rd rank). After several years of teaching, she joined the Louvre Museum as head of educational outreach.
Her career now feeds a personal body of work where painting mastery dialogues with a deep culture of image and art history. Her creations have been shown in galleries in Paris, London, Singapore, and Mauritius, and have been the subject of numerous publications. They are now included in private collections across Europe, North America, Asia, and the Indian Ocean.
Through each of her works, Emmanuelle Pellet seeks to create an intimate encounter with the viewer: an emotion that endures long after the first glance.
