About the work:

In this pop surrealist work, the artist draws us into a universe that is simultaneously playful, poetic, and slightly strange. In the foreground, a small plush-like figure, dressed in a white and green dress with rural accents, advances through a remarkable garden of giant carrots.
Her gaze with large blue eyes, almost hypnotic, creates a striking contrast with the gentleness of the scene. The half-animal character seems to belong to an imaginary world where proportions, eras, and references mingle freely.
In the background, a peaceful landscape composed of a turquoise lake, green hills, and small elegant silhouettes reinforces the fairy-tale impression. The two figures hand in hand at the water’s edge add a narrative and mysterious dimension: who are they, and what is their connection to this strange little gardener?

About the artist:

Art historian by training, Emmanuelle Pellet studied at the École du Louvre and then at the Sorbonne, before passing the Agrégation in Fine Arts (3rd place). After several years in teaching, she joined the Louvre Museum as head of educational action.
Her career now informs a personal body of work where painting mastery dialog with a deep culture of images and art history. Her creations have been exhibited in galleries in Paris, London, Singapore, and Mauritius, and have been the subject of numerous publications. They are now part of private collections in Europe, North America, Asia, and the Indian Ocean.
Through each of her works, Emmanuelle Pellet seeks to create an intimate encounter with the viewer: an emotion that endures far beyond the first glance.
