Description from the seller
David Law
Multidisciplinary Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographic artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to shop-window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a haunting, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A new reading of cultural icons
The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary re-reading of cultural icons through an immersive and vibrant pop art aesthetic. Each work rests on a mosaic construction made up of thousands of micro-graphical compositions. From afar, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close it reveals a wealth of visual details. Each fragment acts as a “wave,” evoking the artistic universe of the subject represented. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. Substantial work is carried out on colors, light and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created in an original and independent manner.
Edition & Production
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Prints are made on aluminum with a built-in rear mounting. Print on luminescent white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with a soft UV- and humidity-resistant laminate, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term color stability and a modern, contemporary appearance.
Career
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the appointed photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual activity, he develops an author’s and musician’s career including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a comic book, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he is currently performing with the band FRENZY.
