Pancho Porto (Santiago de Compostela, 1988) began his training in the specialty of artistic carpentry at the Antonio Failde center in Ourense. At this school he has his first contact with disciplines such as carving, drawing, or modeling, and most importantly, with workshop work.
Later he enrolls at the Mestre Mateo School of Arts and Crafts in Santiago de Compostela, where he studies what will later become his main discipline: sculpture. It is at this school where he already works with materials that will be basic in his work, such as steel or clay. Parallel, Porto continues his self-directed training and investigates other materials such as bronze or resins and their multiple uses and finishes, leaning toward the use of bronze and steel as the definitive materials for his works.
After this initial training phase, he decides to set up his studio on the banks of the Sarela river, very close to where he was born. It is here that he begins his particular theoretical and practical investigation of the relationship between the materials used in each work and the message they convey. This leads him to seek new proposals when it comes to communicating and narrating his story. Since then, this has been the prevailing tone of his works, thus giving the entire body of his work complexity and depth, with themes that touch both the social sphere and his personal experiences.
