Bronze Foo Dog from China, dating to 1970–1980, in a dynastic-inspired style, titled Foo dog, with dimensions 14 cm high, 14.5 cm wide and 9 cm deep and weighing 1.28 kg.
Description from the seller
The Foo Dog (also known as Shishi or Lion Dog) is one of the most recognizable protective symbols in Chinese and Buddhist art.
When placed in pairs they guard temples, palaces, and sacred spaces — the male figure with a globe (symbol of the world), the female with a cub (symbol of nourishment and protection).
As an incense burner, this iconic motif combines ritual function with apotropaic power: the smoke that rises is seen as a bridge between the earthly and heavenly realms, while the Foo Dog purifies the space and protects it from negative energies.
Usage & Placement
Ideal on an altar, meditation corner, or the entrance of the home
Traditionally placed in pairs on either side of a door or sacred space
Suitable for cone or stick incense, depending on the model
Feng Shui
In Feng Shui, the Foo Dog strengthens protective energy (warding off Sha Chi) and promotes a sense of safety and stability in the space.
