josè ortega - Josè Ortega - Segadores - 1970s

Original poster for the solo exhibition of José García Ortega, Spanish painter and etcher, exiled antifrancoist and cofounder of the Estampa Popular group, held at Galleria 32 in Milan (Via Brera 6) in November–December 1972. The show was dedicated to the famous cycle "Segadores" (The Reapers), the twenty plates created by Ortega between 1969 and 1970 inspired by the sufferings of farm workers, accompanied at the time by the poem "Ortega de segadores" written for the occasion by the poet Rafael Alberti, also exiled in Italy.

The artwork depicted on the poster portrays two peasant figures in red clothing, with the distinctive black fringe on a red and purple background that characterizes the series.

It also includes an autograph dedication from the artist — not the simple signature from a vernissage, but a personal dedication to a named recipient ("to the beautiful Titta, his José Ortega") — which makes this copy a unique item.

Conditions: excellent, small hole in the bottom left corner, beneath the gallery logo, visible in the photo.
