Alberto Chappuis - Liquore Strega - 1970s

Splendid and fascinating vintage advertising manifesto for the famous Liqueur Strega (Giuseppe Alberti Benevento, Company), signed by the artist Alberto Chappuis. This specific subject was created on the occasion of the historic Milan International Exposition of 1906, as testified by the official inscriptions at the bottom: "Esposizione Inter. Milano 1906 - Fuori Concorso - Membro della Giuria". The illustration perfectly embodies the aesthetic canons of Art Nouveau / Liberty Style at the beginning of the twentieth century. In the center of the composition stands a sinuous ethereal and sensuous female figure – personification of the magical and bewitching "Strega" – wrapped in a vaporous orange drapery that evokes the shape of a flower. The woman triumphantly raises the iconic bottle of the Beneventan distillate, surrounded by a floating white ribbon bearing the inscription "Tonico Digestivo". At the bottom left stands with elegance the crest of the Suppliers of the Royal House of Italy.
