DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK:
Sign Here is an auto-retrato that transforms the body into a kind of visual diary. On a predominantly black-and-white photograph, dozens of drawings and notes made with blue ballpoint pen roam the skin of the protagonist: symbols, words, memories, personal references, and small thoughts accumulate until the body becomes a canvas.
The work arises from the almost instinctive need to draw and leave marks on any surface, recovering a gesture associated with childhood and transferring it to the autobiographical realm. Each element has a different origin: some refer to personal experiences, others to memories, ideas, tastes, or seemingly insignificant thoughts that, together, build an identity.
In a time when much of our memory is stored in messages, photographs, social networks, or digital notes, Sign Here proposes returning to the physical act of writing and drawing. The body itself thus becomes archive, diary, and artistic medium.
The contrast between the photograph’s black-and-white and the intense blue of the illustrations directs the eye to that accumulation of small stories, celebrating the human need to express oneself, document, and leave a mark.
