Two Chinese export silver circular bowls by Tien Shing of Hong Kong , circa 1880. The almost hemispherical bowls pierced and embossed with objects or bamboo, each on a slightly splayed collet foot, pale green glass liners.
The quality of the pierced and embossed decoration looks superb. They were made by a master craftsman. The glass bowls, I must say, look somewhat a bit oversized and so are possibly not the original ones! Tien Shing (often stamped with the latin initials "TS" alongside Chinese artisan hallmarks) operated out of Hong Kong during the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic periods (circa 1850–1910). Because the global market for authentic Chinese Export Silver has intensified significantly over the last several decades, items by recognized makers like Tien Shing command strong collector interest.
