AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

SWEET SHAKE is a painting by Flavia Delgado inspired by Pop Art aesthetics and American advertising from the 1950s. The protagonist, a pin-up–style female figure, poses with a classic milkshake topped with whipped cream and a cherry, evoking the visual universe of American diners, retro culture, and mid-20th-century advertising iconography.

The composition stands out for its defined black outlines, flat and saturated colors, and a bright combination of light blue, yellow, white, and red. The polka-dot dress, the figure’s pose, and the bold lowercase typography reinforce the vintage advertising poster character, reinterpreted from a contemporary painting sensibility.

With visual affinities to Pop Art, comics, and American commercial illustration, Sweet Shake plays with nostalgia and turns a mundane scene into a graphic, cheerful, and seductive image. A work especially appealing to collectors of contemporary pop art, pin-up, retro posters, American culture, and vintage aesthetics.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
