AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

THE MASQUERADE is a painting by Flavia Delgado that fuses Pop Art aesthetics with the visual language of retro cinema and advertising posters. The scene depicts an elegant masquerade ball starring three figures dressed in evening attire, framed by a classical architecture of arches and columns that adds theatricality and sophistication.

The composition is articulated through bold black outlines and large flat color fields, with a strong contrast of red, intense blue, black, and cream tones. The dresses, Venetian masks, and tuxedo turn the characters into true graphic icons, while the large lower typography reinforces their vintage cinema poster appearance.

With echoes of Pop Art, comics, editorial illustration, and old film posters, The Masquerade visually explores ideas such as mystery, identity, seduction, and appearances. An especially appealing work for collectors of contemporary pop art, vintage posters, masks, Art Deco aesthetics, classic cinema, and retro culture.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
