AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

MIDNIGHT DRIVE is a painting by Flavia Delgado that recuperates the aesthetics of American poster art from the 1950s and 60s and blends it with a contemporary Pop Art language. The night scene shows a red classic car stopped at a gas station, while a couple chats under the glow of the dispensers, building an image with a cinematic and narrative feel.

The palette of night blue, intense red, black, cream, and yellow creates a strong graphic contrast. The reflections of the lights on the asphalt add depth and atmosphere, while the black outlines, flat-color surfaces, and bold typography reinforce the vintage poster character.

The work evokes the iconography of Americana, old gas stations, road trips, classic cars, and the imagery of American cinema, with echoes of retro advertising, comics, and Pop Art. Midnight Drive conveys a sense of travel, romance, and nocturnal mystery, especially appealing to collectors of Pop Art, American culture, classic automobiles, and vintage posters.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
