AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

MIDNIGHT CALL is a painting by Flavia Delgado that combines the aesthetics of Pop Art with the graphics of American posters and comics from the mid-20th century. The scene shows a woman speaking from a public telephone in the middle of the night, with a classic taxi and the silhouette of the city in the background, building a narrative charged with mystery and a cinematic atmosphere.

The composition stands out for the large typography “LAST CALL,” the prominence of the female figure, and a strong palette of violets, magentas, yellows, black, and cream. The black outlines, flat colors, and reflections on the pavement reinforce the graphic and retro character of the work.

With visual references to vintage posters, American comics, the pin-up aesthetic and Pop Art, Midnight Call transforms a nocturnal call into a scene open to the imagination: a farewell, a date, unexpected news, or a secret conversation.

An artwork especially attractive for collectors of contemporary pop art, figurative painting, American culture, retro aesthetics, comics, and vintage posters.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
