Description from the seller

OPEN ROAD is a painting by Flavia Delgado that celebrates travel and freedom through an aesthetic inspired by vintage road signage and contemporary Pop Art. A classic camper van moves along a winding road between towering rock formations, while a huge sun dominates the horizon.

The composition uses a warm palette of ochres, yellows, earth tones, and cream, contrasted by the vehicle’s intense turquoise blue. Black outlines, large areas of flat color, and sun rays create a visually striking graphic image, reminiscent of old travel posters and American tourist advertising.

The iconography connects with the imagery of the American road trip, the desert landscapes of the West, camper culture, and outdoor adventure. The road disappearing into the landscape reinforces the idea of movement, discovery, and travel toward the unknown.

Open Road is especially appealing to Pop Art collectors, retro signage enthusiasts, American culture aficionados, vintage automotive lovers, travelers, and landscapes of the American West.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
