Description from the seller
Carlo Passigli (Florence, 1881 - 1953), Country Road, oil on panel (the single work measures 39.5 x 34 cm), painting also executed on the back with a sketch of the realization on the front. Signed in the lower right and dated (1945). In a contemporary frame that complements the value of the work.
A pupil of G. Calosci at the Florence Academy, he then studied in Venice with G. Ciardi and E. Tito. Carlo Passigli, in 1900, returned to Florence and began to devote himself to landscape and genre painting, blending careful references to the post-Macchiaioli tradition with an interest in the Divisionism of P. Nomellini. He made his debut in Torino in 1902, achieving modest success, confirmed in 1905 when he exhibited at the Venice Biennale.
