Title: "Passage"
Description:
"Passage" speaks of movement and change – of a place where something ends and at the same time something new begins. The black lines feel like suggested walls, paths or openings. They give the painting stability without prescribing the path too clearly.
Between them lie fine splashes and traces, almost like memories of what has already happened on this way. The warm, restrained tones make the image appear calm and familiar, while the bold lines introduce a certain tension.
A passage is never just a place you pass through. It can be a transition, a decision, or a quiet turning point. You leave something behind and perhaps don’t yet know exactly what awaits you on the other side. It is precisely this in-between that makes the moment special.
Thus the painting invites you to find yourself in it: Where do I stand right now? What am I leaving behind – and where do I want to go from here?

The cracks in the painting are intentional.
They are not signs of damage, but part of the artistic expression. The fractures belong to the surface like scars to the skin: they tell of tension, movement, and the process itself. It is especially through these cracks that the work gains depth and authenticity – nothing is smoothed, nothing hidden.
The canvas is delivered rolled.
Christoph Prein is an Austrian artist known for his abstract and contemporary works, predominantly created with acrylic paints. Originally from St. Margarethen bei Knittelfeld, Prein’s pieces are often characterized by a minimalist, abstract style and are carefully crafted from high-quality materials to ensure vibrant colors and longevity. In his art he frequently explores themes such as identity, memory, and the exploration of human emotions, often pushing the boundaries between the visible and the invisible.
Prein’s approach to art is multidimensional, combining painting with elements of sculpture and installation. This unique style has earned him recognition both in Austria and internationally, with exhibitions across Europe, North America, and Asia. His works often invite the viewer to reflect on the complexities of the modern world and the deeper aspects of the human experience.
For a painting measuring 210 x 120 cm one needs a primed canvas frame of size 200 x 110 cm and a thickness of 2-4 cm.
You can then either simply stretch the canvas yourself or have it stretched by an artisan or gallery owner.
This is a handmade original, signed by the artist on the back and dated by year.
High-quality and lightfast acrylic paints have been used on multiple coats of white primer on gallery canvas.
A varnish was also applied to protect the work.
This work is handmade and therefore a one-of-a-kind!
--- Certificate of authenticity included ---
Beautify your private residence, law firm, practice, or office and upgrade your premises in an elegant and stylish way.
When a person dives into their innermost depths, into a sphere that rarely comes to light, into a space that remains mysteriously hidden, waiting to be discovered, tickled awake, and perhaps painfully empowered, then art is born.
