Description from the seller
The foliage closes around the canvas like a vegetal curtain, and right in the center a gap opens: a slit of light that allows a glimpse of the water. Volta builds the frame in small touches, leaves and shards of green that vibrate like suspended rain, while the mirror of water below lights up with cool turquoise and blues, speckled with reflections that seem to breathe. At the bottom, a few ducks cross the surface without hurry, indifferent to being observed through such a narrow opening. It is a closed garden that only allows itself to be looked at for an instant, a refuge revealed to those who stop in front of the canvas and nowhere else. The brushstroke is dense, almost embroidered, and it turns the vegetation into a lace that protects more than it hides.
Signed and dated 2026 in the bottom right
Image dimensions: 90 x 70 cm
Overall canvas size: 100 x 80 cm
The work is sold without a frame; it will be rolled and shipped in a cardboard tube.
The certificate of authenticity is issued exclusively upon request, in digital format.
Volta’s search moves along the line of a return—not nostalgic, but active. The great tradition of European painting is the starting point: the period that each work evokes, from time to time. But the gesture with which this heritage is traversed is unmistakably contemporary. Color does not illustrate; it breathes. The brushstroke does not describe; it vibrates. What remains of the past is the deep structure—a certain idea of the body, of space, of light—while the surface is entirely present, entirely alive. Volta does not quote, he restitutes: his compositions seem to emerge from a shared cultural memory, brought to light with different eyes.
