Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
An Italian mid-century modern wall lamp dating to circa 1960–1970, in glass with a chrome-plated metal frame, featuring a satin white opaline glass diffuser, 17 cm wide, 19 cm high, in excellent working condition with an extra glass diffuser.
Description from the seller
Elegant vintage European wall lamp dating from approximately the late 1960s to early 1970s. Comes with an extra glass diffuser.
The lamp combines a sculptural satin-white opaline glass diffuser with a minimalist architectural support in chrome-plated metal. The diffuser has an unusual flattened, softly rounded form with a small moulded flared collar, giving the lamps a distinctive appearance somewhere between late Mid-Century Modernism and early Space Age design. The construction and design language are consistent with high-quality Western European lighting of the period, particularly Italian production of the 1960s and early 1970s.
The metal construction is particularly refined: a narrow rectangular chrome wall plate supports a straight horizontal arm, which intersects with a vertical cylindrical stem above the opaline glass shade. The contrast between the geometric chrome structure and the soft organic glass volume gives the lamp a very characteristic circa-1970 appearance.
The opaline glass diffusers are beautifully preserved and provide the soft, diffuse light typical of high-quality European lighting from this period. The chrome-plated components show normal age-related traces and surface wear consistent with vintage use. A stylish and increasingly difficult-to-find original period wall light, equally suitable for a Mid-Century Modern, Space Age, minimalist or eclectic interior.
