Description from the seller

Oil by Jean Claude Quilici. "Les Roches Blanches aux Baux".

Jean-Claude Quilici was born in Marseille in 1941. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, where he discovered the masters of Provençal painting.
His painting here fits within the aesthetic lineage of Provençal artists. However, Jean-Claude Quilici does not represent only Provence, but all the landscapes he admires and that inspire him, as he travels: United States, Spain, Morocco…
Jean-Claude Quilici first exhibited in 1958. This was followed by a national-scale reputation. The artist received numerous prizes, such as "the special mention" from the Jury at the Grand Prix de Peinture of the Festival d'Avignon. The recognition he enjoys then crosses borders: he has exhibited many times in the United States and then in Japan. During his career, he also undertook public commissions, for the University of Corte and the Marseille metro in particular. In 1997, the artist created the décors of the opera "Mireille" by Gounod for a coproduction of the Opéra de Marseille and the Opéra de Bordeaux.
