Lot Description:
Splendid and detailed sculpture depicting the Bodhisattva Guanyin (Goddess of Mercy), crafted in precious white Dehua porcelain (Blanc de Chine). The piece dates from the Chinese Republic period (1912-1949).
The figure is depicted in an elegant and serene pose, finely adorned with rich jewelry applied in relief, an elaborate hairstyle with a diadem, and soft drapery of the robe. On the back there is a mark stamped in the porcelain seal (please refer to the photos for details of the signature).
