Items are subjected to checks relevant to their nature, with the support of Dr. Erika Barbero, professional enrolled in the expert registers of the Court of Cuneo and the Italian Appraisers’ Board. These registrations concern the professional’s qualification and do not constitute an approval of the individual item by the Court or the represented brands.

AUTHENTICITY, CONDITION AND DOCUMENTATION

Verifying condition and authenticity is a central element of our activity. Jewelry in gold and silver, silverware, watches, signed clothing and accessories are examined according to the characteristics of the individual item and the available documentation.

Any certificates or expert reports are provided when expressly indicated in the description or can be requested before bidding, agreeing on availability, content and any costs. The Catawiki expert review is distinct from our appraisal activity and does not replace an individual certificate.

Description and photographs document the proposed item, its accessories and stated conditions. For used or vintage items, signs of time and use are assessed in relation to the nature, era and condition of the item. Photographs complement the description without limiting responsibility for inaccurate characteristics or undisclosed defects.

Only accessories and documents expressly indicated are included. The brands mentioned belong to their respective holders; their mention identifies the items and does not imply affiliation or authorization by the maison.

PREPARATION, SHIPMENT AND DELIVERY

Each item is checked, cleaned or sanitized using methods compatible with the materials and its preservation, then carefully packed.

Shipping is trackable and insured according to the service terms used. Items may be stored in different warehouses: allow roughly 7–10 days for delivery, unless otherwise indicated in the order, for special destinations or customs delays. Shipment will occur within the terms provided by Catawiki and communicated for the order; the estimated delivery time does not constitute an extension of the shipping deadline.

Upon receipt, check the packaging. In case of dents, cuts, openings or breakages, ask the courier to note a specific reservation, when possible. We recommend photographing the package before and after opening and keeping packaging, protective materials and the label to facilitate any insurance verifications.

The absence of a reservation, photographs or packaging does not automatically forfeit the consumer’s non-derogable rights. In consumer sales, the risk of transport is governed by art. 63 of the Consumer Code.

ASSISTANCE AND REPORTS

For any clarification or issue, contact us via the Catawiki order messaging, indicating the lot number and describing what you found.

In case of damage, item not as described or missing contents, promptly report the problem also to Catawiki support, preferably immediately and in any case within 3 days as per the platform procedure, to enable claim handling and potential suspension of payment.

This operational term does not imply waiver of the right of withdrawal or of the legal guarantee under applicable terms.

CONSUMER WITHDRAWAL

When the purchaser acts as a consumer and the legal requirements are met, they may exercise the right of withdrawal without justification within 14 days of receiving the item, pursuant to arts. 52 and following of Legislative Decree 206/2005, subject to legal exceptions.

The decision must be communicated to the seller via an explicit declaration, also using the Catawiki procedure. The item must be reshipped within 14 days of withdrawal notification.

For mere reconsideration, the direct cost of return is borne by the buyer, unless otherwise agreed. Amounts due by law, including standard initial delivery costs, will be refunded; higher costs for a more expensive delivery chosen by the buyer are not owed.

The refund is made without undue delay and within the statutory terms, with the possibility of withholding until receipt of the item or proof of return, under the conditions provided by law. Amounts collected directly by Catawiki are managed through the platform under the respective competencies, without prejudice to non-derogable rights.

The buyer is responsible for any decrease in value resulting from handling beyond what is necessary to verify nature, characteristics and functioning of the item, within the legal limits.

LEGAL GUARANTEE AND DEFECTS OF CONFORMITY

In consumer sales, the legal conformity warranty provided by arts. 128 and following of the Consumer Code applies, also for used goods, taking into account prior use and contractually declared features.

The ordinary duration of liability is two years from delivery. For used goods, any reduction, not less than one year, only applies if validly agreed and permitted by applicable law.

In the presence of a conformity defect, the consumer is entitled to remedies provided by law: repair or replacement, where feasible, or reduction of price or termination of the contract when prerequisites exist.

Our commercial preference is to resolve valid disputes by returning the item and full refund where appropriate, rather than negotiating informal discounts. This preference does not exclude mandatory remedies, including price reduction.

When return is due to a defect attributable to the seller, the necessary costs are borne by us under the law. Costs for other scenarios of cancellation are determined by the cause of cancellation and applicable provisions.

RETURNS, REPAIRS AND INTEGRITY OF THE ITEM

Before making repairs, restorations, adjustments or interventions by third parties, contact us to allow problem verification and agree on the solution. Unauthorized interventions may alter the original state, compromise assessments and affect liability for damages or defects caused by them.

Automatic refunds for interventions commissioned to third parties are not provided. The consumer’s non-derogable rights remain: an unauthorized intervention does not, by itself, entail loss of all protections for defects independent of the intervention.

The returned item must include accessories and documents received and be protected with appropriate packaging. Please include the order reference and, if available, a copy of the sale document. The original receipt is not the only admissible proof of purchase.

EXTRA-EU SHIPMENTS AND CUSTOMS COMPLIANCE

For destinations outside the European Union, including the United Kingdom, Switzerland, China, Taiwan, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates, duties, taxes and customs clearance charges may apply, according to the destination and order conditions. Amounts already collected by the platform must not be automatically deemed due again.

When required, fiscal or identifying data may be requested for customs clearance. A passport number will be requested only if actually necessary under applicable rules or the carrier or competent authority’s documented instructions.

We invite buyers to check import restrictions in advance. For goods subject to particular rules, including CITES or cultural property regulations, shipping remains subject to the legal possibility of export/import and the required documents.

CUSTOMER IDENTIFICATION AND DATA PROTECTION

In remote sales of valuables subject to identification obligations, a valid identity document is required and identification is performed remotely according to the modalities provided by applicable law.

If essential information is missing to meet a legal obligation, the transaction cannot be completed until regularized. Any cancellation and refund will be managed with Catawiki according to applicable regulations and conditions, without automatic exclusion of responsibility.

Personal data will be processed for contractual, tax, customs purposes and other applicable legal obligations, in compliance with EU Regulation 2016/679 and Legislative Decree 196/2003. Only data necessary will be requested, with information on purposes, methods and retention periods.
