Description from the seller

An absolute masterpiece of Italian poster design and the history of motorsport, signed by the undisputed master of the Belle Époque, Marcello Dudovich. Made on behalf of the Automobile Club Milano, this extraordinary advertising piece celebrated the legendary “Corse di Brescia” (1–2 September 1907), which included the historic competitions of the Coppa Florio and the Coppa della Velocità. The dynamic composition captures the essence of the incipient Futurism and Liberty elegance: in the foreground, two sophisticated female figures in vibrant green tones observe the passing of a vintage racing car that speeds by, raising a cloud of golden dust. Printed by the famed Officine G. Ricordi of Milan, the poster is a superb example of chromolithography of the era, characterized by typographic inscriptions in the visually striking Art Nouveau style.
