Beautiful Prometheus sketch, oil on canvas, Genoese school, circa 1640, in excellent condition. Dimensions of the painting without the frame are about 0.45 x 0.35 m. With the frame, 0.55 x 0.45 m.

The painting of the same subject by Gioacchino Assereto, formerly Wannenes (Genova, February 24, 2009, Lot 31; Oil on canvas, cm 205 x 135), which, attributed to the painter by Daniele Benati, is placed in the early 1940s when the artist shows a peculiar interest in the works of the southern tenebrism of Giuseppe Ribera and Matthias Stom. In this case, if one considered the autograph, we would be facing a sketch, a preparatory study.

il dipinto di medesimo soggetto realizzato da Gioacchino Assereto già Wannenes, (Genova, 24 febbraio 2009, lotto 31; Olio su tela, cm 205 x 135), che attribuito al pittore da Daniele Benati si colloca ai primi anni Quaranta quando l'artista mostra un peculiare interesse per le opere del tenebrismo meridionale di Giuseppe Ribera e Matthias Stom. In questo caso, se si considerasse l'autografia dovremmo trovarci al cospetto di un bozzetto, di uno studio preparatorio.
