Longines hunter open-face pocket watch, reference 8014, with a 48 mm gold-plated case and manual-winding Calibre 507 movement, dating from the 1970s, weighing about 87 g, in working order, supplied with the original Longines double-strand foxtail albert chain and branded fob.
Description from the seller
Introduction
A Longines open-face hunter pocket watch with a crisp white enamel-style dial signed 'Longines' in elegant script, Roman numeral hour markers, blued-steel hands, and a subsidiary seconds register at the 6 o'clock position. The case is a full hunter style with a snap-open front cover and a plain polished snap back, 48 mm in diameter, gold electroplated over stainless steel as stamped inside the case. The watch comes on its original Longines double-strand foxtail albert chain with a lobster-claw clasp and a branded Longines swivel fob.
Historical / Era context
Longines of Saint-Imier, Switzerland, has produced pocket watches since 1867 and is renowned for the precision of its movements. This piece carries caliber 507, a manually wound movement produced by Longines for presentation-quality open-face pocket watches. The case reference 8014 with the 507 caliber designator places this within the classic Longines pocket-watch production of the mid-to-late twentieth century, when the company supplied elegant dress pocket watches to the gift and commemorative market worldwide. The interior of the outer caseback is engraved with the Longines winged-hourglass trademark alongside the case serial 27695160.
Condition
The watch is running and keeping good time. The watch was checked lying flat (dial up) after a full wind. This is a spot check at the time of listing; as a vintage mechanical watch the rate in actual wear varies with position and winding state, and long-term accuracy is not guaranteed. As a vintage timepiece it may benefit from a service.
Case: The gold-plated surfaces carry scattered fine scratches across the back and bezel rim from normal handling over the years; no deep dents or dings are present. The front cover opens and snaps shut crisply, and the snap-back closes securely. The plating retains most of its original lustre, with light wear concentrated on the high points of the back.
Dial: The white dial is clean and legible with no staining, cracks or significant marks. The printing and Roman numerals are sharp and well-defined. The subsidiary seconds chapter is clear and easy to read.
Crystal: The mineral crystal is clear with light surface scratches; no cracks are present.
Movement: The movement is running. With the caseback opened, the Longines caliber 507 movement is visible; it presents clean, well-finished bridges with no visible damage or corrosion.
Accessories: Supplied with the original Longines double-strand foxtail albert chain, complete with a lobster-claw swivel clasp marked 'LONGINES' and a steel key ring. No box or papers are included.
Please review all photographs carefully for the detailed condition.
