Description of the object Beautiful and intense original oil painting on canvas applied to a rigid panel, created in 2002 by the renowned Burmese contemporary artist Naing Thu, an excellent painter trained at the State School of Fine Art in Yangon and permanently exhibited at the prestigious New Treasure Art Gallery. The work falls within the realist painting tradition and is an exceptional piece of ethnic and Eastern art. It depicts with extraordinary hyperrealism the expressive face of an elderly woman from Myanmar while smoking the traditional local cigar (cheroot). The artist's mastery emerges in the contrast of light and in the meticulous attention to detail, such as the deep wrinkles of the face and the light smoke rising from the cigar. Condition The painting and the front frame are in excellent condition and well preserved behind the glass. On the back, the gummed paper from the framer shows the normal signs of time with some partial tears, which in no way compromise the stability or integrity of the canvas and its structure. Signature and Authenticity: The work is originally signed in red brush by the artist at the bottom left and unmistakably dated 2002 ('02). The cursive, slender stroke is typical of figurative masters from the Southeast Asian area (contemporary Myanmar school).
