The Mart Signed Museum
For years the Where Are You Street Art? project has told the journey of street art through authentic fragments of urban walls, symbolically bringing the street inside homes, galleries and private collections.
With this new series, The Mart Signed Museum is born, a natural evolution of my artistic research.
I asked myself what happens to a work when it finds its final placement. A museum protects it, preserves it and hands it over to the future, but at the same time restrains it. Can it remain hanging on the same wall for decades, watched by millions of people, without being able to continue its journey?
From this reflection comes the idea of a museum in which some works decide, symbolically, to break free. Each work appears as a fragment torn directly from the museum wall. It is not only the artwork that is taken away, but also a part of the wall that housed it, transforming the museum itself into an integral part of the work.
Each collector does not merely acquire a painting, but an authentic fragment of the Mart Signed Museum, becoming the next stop of their journey.
The work
With The Real Proposal, a marriage proposal is presented as a museum work. An intimate and personal gesture becomes universal heritage, reminding us that certain moments have a value that transcends time.
The damascened wall, the frame, the museum placard and the “No photographing” sign are not mere decorative elements, but parts of the artwork itself. The sign invites reflection on a society increasingly used to photographing every moment. Some moments, however, deserve to be lived first and foremost.
Materials and authenticity
Natural imperfections, marks and dents of the materials are not flaws, but an integral part of the work. They tell their story and contribute to making each piece unique.
The artwork is delivered ready to be hung and comes with the certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.
