Joana Pita’s contemporary collage titled “chewing gum” (2023) on MDF with 200 g paper, 35 × 45 cm and 2 cm depth, features punch needle on cotton with acrylic ink, hand-signed and in excellent condition, sold directly by the artist.
Description from the seller
This work is a set of collages on MDF and 200 g paper, where different materials, textures and shapes intersect in a contemporary-inspired composition. The piece combines punch needle technique in cotton with acrylic paint details, creating a dialogue between graphic, tactile and painterly elements.
My name is Joana and I am an interior and product designer, trained in Design at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon. I have been professionally working in design for almost a decade, developing projects mainly related to spaces and objects.
Alongside my professional path, I discovered in the Plastic Arts a space for experimentation and personal expression. In my spare time, I explore different techniques and materials, with a particular interest in a contemporary artistic language, where collage, texture and layering take on a central role.
The paintings and collages have, so far, emerged mainly as a personal project and artistic exploration. Some of my works have already been shown in exhibitions, although this path is still in an early stage. Until recently, the pieces were shared and acquired mainly through my personal circle and my Instagram.
Participation in Catawiki represents, thus, a new step in this journey: the opportunity to present my work to a wider audience and to begin developing this artistic aspect more consistently.
