Trained in a Nordic artistic milieu strongly influenced by the legacy of Expressionism and Action Painting, Sigvardson developed a highly personal visual language centered on lyrical and informal abstraction. His production is renowned for the violent and dramatic chromatic contrasts, in which pure primary colors—such as sunlit yellows, intense reds, and deep blues—are juxtaposed with dense black and white fields, laid on the canvas with energetic, instinctive, and highly tactile gesture. Throughout his career, Sigvardson experimented extensively with mixed media, combining the fluidity of acrylic with the body and luster of oil painting, preferring large canvases to allow the force of the painterly gesture to express itself without spatial constraints.
