Ugo Mulas - La vita di Galileo

This is a rare photograph of the great Ugo Mulas from 1963 of the theatrical work "La vita di Galileo" by Bertolt Brecht, taken during the premiere on April 22 at the Piccolo Teatro di Milano.
The direction was by Giorgio Strehler, a great admirer of Ugo Mulas, and the actor in the photo is Ferdinando Tamberlani, who later became Pope Urban VIII, at the moment of vesting with the sacred vestments.
This photograph is large-format, whereas most of Ugo Mulas' theater photos were 17x22 cm or 18x24 cm, while this one is 29x37 cm.
On the back we find the old Mulas stamp and a handwritten authentication by his brother Mario, from whose collection this important photograph came.
Overall good condition, a defect in the emulsion on the left in the upper-middle part, a defect already shown to a restorer and certainly restorable.
A great photograph of a great artist, an almost unique opportunity to own an image and an important work in one's collection.
