The painting is in good overall condition: it is on the original canvas and shows a very fine craquelure; the composition remains intact and no restoration interventions are evident; some light marks near the inner edges of the frame.

Madsen was, in addition to being a respected painter, also an archaeologist and cartographer, an officer of the Danish army, from 1848 to 1864; father of the historian Karl Madsen.

Il dipinto è in buone condizioni generali: è in prima tela e presenta un cretto molto fine; la composizione rimane integra e non si ravvisano interventi di restauro pittorico; alcuni lievi segni a ridosso dei bordi interni della cornice.

Madsen è stato, oltre che un apprezzato pittore, anche archeologo e cartografo, ufficiale dell'esercito danese, dal 1848 al 1864; padre dello storico Karl Madsen.
