Description from the seller
Introduction
This Longines Automatic with date is a refined dress watch that embodies the elegance and understated sophistication for which the maison has long been celebrated. Founded in Saint-Imier, Switzerland in 1832, Longines is one of the oldest continuously operating watch brands in the world, with a heritage rooted in precision chronometry and aviation timekeeping. The iconic winged hourglass logo displayed proudly on the dial is among the oldest registered trademarks in watchmaking history.
Historical & Collector Value
Dating from the 1970s to early 1980s, this reference showcases the integrated case-and-bracelet design language that defined the era of elegant sports-dress hybrids. The champagne dial with applied baton indices, slim baton hands, and framed date window at 3 o'clock reflects the refined aesthetic Longines perfected during this period. Vintage Longines automatics from this era have become increasingly sought after by collectors, offering genuine Swiss horological heritage combined with timeless design. Models with the classic winged logo and gold-tone finishing remain highly collectible thanks to their versatility and enduring visual appeal.
