A Bakelite lamp from the estimated period 1950–1960, made in Germany by PGH Electro-Medizin, in good used condition and in working order.
Description from the seller
The item for sale is a legendary Bakelite lamp produced in the 1950s by the renowned VEB Elmed facilities in Hohen Neuendorf, in the territory of the former GDR.
This unique model with its streamlined, dynamic shapes fits the Bauhaus aesthetics and the birth of the Space Age era. The lamp originally served as a medical heat lamp; however today, due to its timeless form, it works excellently as a striking desk lamp, bedside lamp, or a unique decorative element in loft, industrial, and vintage interiors.
The device is built from thick, high-quality Bakelite in a deep, noble shade of dark brown leaning toward burgundy, which retains its beautiful, mirrored gloss. The thoughtfully designed construction allows smooth vertical adjustment of the lampshade angle, enabling precise direction of the light beam.
The unit is characterized by compact and very stable dimensions – the lamp height is 17 cm, and its heavy base, about 11 cm x 21 cm, guarantees full stability on a surface. At the back of the housing there is the original factory stamping “250 Watt.” The authenticity of the item is further underscored by the included original long cord with a brown braid and the plug has been replaced.
The item is in very good visual condition, as detailed in the attached photos. Bakelite is free of cracks or chips; only the cord and plug require cleaning. The lamp has a standard E27 thread, so it can accommodate a modern decorative Edison LED bulb and be used safely in a home setting.
