Description from the seller
MASSIMILIANO MANDAS
UNTITLED
LUMINESCENT ACRYLIC ON CANVAS
40X25
SIGNED ON THE BACK
In the light everything seems present.
Signs, numbers, matter, colors: a surface traversed by traces that seem to surface and disappear continually.
Then the light fails.
It is in the darkness that something remains.
Not what we normally seek, not what demands attention, but a minimal, almost invisible presence, capable of manifesting itself precisely when everything else withdraws.
The work arises from this contradiction: what seems most fragile may be what resists the longest.
Light does not illuminate matter only; it reveals it.
And darkness does not erase it: it allows it to show what could not be seen in the light.
The Inheritance of the Minimum is therefore a reflection on what remains when everything seems to disappear: a trace, a sign, a memory, a residual light.
Perhaps what we inherit is not what occupied the most space,
but what managed to resist in the minimum.
