Benjamin Rabier (1864-1939), a famous animal illustrator and author of many works for the young, tackled here one of the most famous texts of French literature. His drawing, particularly suited to the animal world of the Fables, gives new life to La Fontaine’s characters. This edition, which is among his most important illustration works, significantly contributed to associating his name with animal illustration and with children's literature.
