Description from the seller
This original landscape painting depicts an idyllic rural scene with a path lined by old trees, farmhouses and barns. The detailed portrayal is executed in natural greens, browns, and ochre tones. Especially characteristic are the boldly applied brushstrokes in the foliage and the three-dimensionally worked tree trunks.
Condition / signs of use:
The painting shows clear age- and wear-related marks. At the edges there are numerous small color losses, abrasion, and chipping. Particularly at the lower right corner as well as along the upper and side edges there are flakings down to the canvas support. In several areas of the surface there are fine cracks or craquelure as well as isolated small losses in the paint layer. In the area of the dark trees and roof work there are also minor scratches and color losses. The texture of the canvas becomes visibly pronounced at individual damaged spots.
Close-up views also show losses of the paint layer in the lower right or side area, where the underlying fabric is visible. Also along the lower edge there is abrasion and some minor fraying.
The back shows an old canvas on a wooden stretchers. The support shows age-related discoloration and light soiling; at the edges the canvas is partly somewhat frayed. Overall the painting is in an age-appropriate, noticeably used condition with visible color losses and edge damage.
