Description from the seller
Details
Vietti’s Barolo Ravera originates from the prestigious Ravera *cru* in Novello, one of the most highly regarded sites within the Barolo DOCG appellation. The vineyard sits at an altitude of approximately 320–350 meters with a south- to southeast-facing exposure. The soils consist primarily of calcareous marl with a high clay content, imparting structure, depth, and distinct minerality. From Ravera, the renowned Vietti estate crafts a Barolo that blends power and energy with remarkable precision and freshness.
Tasting Profile
In the glass, the wine displays a brilliant garnet-red hue. The bouquet is intense and layered, offering aromas of red cherry, raspberry, and rose, followed by notes of orange zest, mint, spices, and a clear mineral undertone. On the palate, it is taut and structured, featuring lively acidity and fine-grained yet powerful tannins that provide tension and length. The Ravera style is defined by verticality and freshness, culminating in a long, precise finish with subtle balsamic nuances. This Barolo pairs beautifully with slow-cooked beef, game dishes, lamb, truffle-based preparations, and aged hard cheeses.
Vinification
Vinification begins with the careful hand-harvesting and selection of Nebbiolo grapes. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with extended skin contact to ensure maximum extraction of aroma, color, and structure. The wine then matures for approximately 24 months in large Slavonian oak casks (*botti*); this approach allows the terroir to remain the focal point while refining the tannins, avoiding excessive influence from the wood. After bottling, the wine undergoes further bottle aging, contributing to the complexity and impressive aging potential of this energetic and elegant Barolo.
