Description from the seller
Meissen – large round breakthrough bowl – Onion Pattern – 2nd Choice – about 29 cm
Offered is a large and elaborately worked round breakthrough bowl from the Meissen porcelain manufactory with the classic onion pattern in cobalt blue underglaze painting.
Especially appealing is the broad, extremely finely pierced edge with a basket-weave lattice structure. Four molded, curved cartouches interrupt the lattice and are also decorated with blue ornament. In the mirror of the bowl there is an extensively painted floral onion pattern. Through the combination of delicate breakthrough work and the traditional decor, the bowl has an unusually decorative and representative effect.
On the underside is the cobalt-blue Meissen sword mark. The mark has two grinding strokes and identifies the piece as 2nd Choice. In addition, there are impressed or engraved form/work marks on the underside, as well as a small blue painter’s or work mark. The existing markings are documented in the detail photos.

Condition
The bowl is overall in a decorative and well-kept condition. In the filigree pierced edge there is a single crack. It is always the same single defect and not multiple cracks.
On the glazed surface there is also a small irregularity in the blue painting or a small color/paint defect. This is also shown in a detail photo and is expressly mentioned for completeness.
Apart from the described single crack and the small irregularity in the painting, no other damages are visible in the provided photos. Due to the particularly delicate breakthrough work, all detail shots are part of the condition description.
An attractive large Meissen breakthrough bowl with a classic onion pattern and especially elaborate lattice work – a decorative piece for collectors and lovers of Meissen porcelain.
Shipping will be carried out carefully and packed with particular shock protection.
